Members Can Now Sign-Up/Login Using Facebook Username and Password

3/22/2012

How many times a week do you fail to remember your password to a website you are sure you have an account with? You sit there going through all of the possible options until finally one works or you give up in frustration. Whether it is your bank account or your favorite music website, it is impossible to keep all the usernames and passwords straight. In attempt to stay off of the list of forgotten passwords, This week, Farmigo will launch a new feature, allowing members to easily sign up and log in using their Facebook accounts. Members who do not wish to connect using Facebook or do not have a Facebook account can still sign up or log in using their email address and selected password.

Let's take a look at what the new signup and login processes will look like.

Spring Cleaning! Unclutter Your Webstore

3/20/2012

This week, I want to introduce a new feature called Box Item Variation, a feature that can help organize items in your web store. Most farms like to sell things in different quantities, i.e. 1 lb vs. 5 lbs of potatoes. Previously, each of these items had to be listed as a separate item in the web store as seen below. This causes clutter and confusion in the webstore.
Picture
As a solution, we have created Box Item Variation, a feature that allows you to set up one item with multiple quantities. A drop down list will appear next to the item so that members may choose the quantity that they would like to purchase.
Picture
Here's how it works; once we enable Box Item Variation for you, a new tab will become available in the item card called Variation. Too add different quantities type in the price, quantity, unit, number available, select published, and click add.

To edit a variation once it has been added, click on the field and it will change to an editable area.

There are two ways to remove a variation from the web store. You can change it's status to a draft so that it remains in the system, but does not appear in the store. If you set the status of every variation to draft, the drop down menu will still appear for the item. To completely delete the variation and the drop down menu in the store, press the X to the right of it.

How to enable Box Item Variation
To enable this feature for your web store, email [email protected] and let us know you would like Box Item Variation enabled in your dashboard. Hope this helps!

Reward Members for Referring New Customers

3/13/2012

Your current CSA members are one of your best marketing resources. Farmigo can help you utilize this marketing resource by helping you create a referral rewards program. The first step to setting up a referral program is to email [email protected] and let us know that you would like to change your sign up comment to something along the lines of "How did you hear about us? If somebody referred you to us, please tell us their name." This comment will appear in the last step of the sign-up process beneath the payment method.

When you view this new subscription in your dashboard, you can view the sign up comment under the Order tab of the contact card. Additionally, when you export the subscription list to excel, the comment can be viewed in the Sign-Up Comment column.

Now that you have identified the member who referred your new customer, it's time to reward them. Instead of giving the customer a discount or coupon code, we recommend providing them with Farmigo credit, a currency that may only be used in the Farmigo web store. If you do not have Farmigo credit enabled, email us and ask us to activate it for you.

How to add Farmigo Credit to a member's account:
To reward members for referrals, we decided to offer a $10 Farmigo Credit per signed up referred member. To add credit, go to the payment tab of the member's subscription card. In the drop down box next to Add Payment select Farmigo Credits. Then enter the amount, choose received, enter the date, and enter a note that mentions which customer was referred. Finally, click add.

When Miriam Mark logs into her account, she will see that she has $10 in Farmigo credit. The next time she goes to the web store, she can use this credit to complete her purchase.

Easy Photo Management and Editing With Photo Bucket

3/1/2012

We have found an easier way for you to manage and edit your photos. Picassa is still a viable option for photo management, but we wanted to share our new found photo management site, photobucket. A photobucket account is free and allows you to upload unlimited images. We hope this post simplifies and clarifies the photo uploading process.

These are the standard picture dimensions for the system. Pictures don't have to be exactly this size. If you want to scale proportionally, close enough is good enough. I recommend writing down these dimensions or committing them to memory!
  • Farm Logo:  442 x 73
  • Item/Share/Option: 205 x 140
  • Producer: 153 x 188
Follow these easy steps to use photobucket to manage and edit your photos.

Step 1: Go to photobucket.com and click Sign up.
Picture
Step 2: Enter your information and click Sign me up!
Picture
Step 3: There is no need for a Pro account. Press No Thanks.

Step 4: Click Upload Photos Now

Step 5:  To upload from your computer click select photos and videos. Select the photos on your computer you would like to upload. You can select multiple files by holding the command button and selecting. On a Mac, you can also click and drag your mouse to highlight a whole group of photos. On a PC, click Ctrl + click to highlight groups of photos.

Step 6: When upload is complete, click View album.
Picture
Step 7: Photobucket makes it extremely easy to resize and edit your images. This is where you can get really creative. Roll your mouse over the image you want to edit. Click edit.
Picture
Step 8: There are many editing options here, but most importantly, we want to resize the image so that it fits on the site. Click Resize.  (Thanks to Suzie's Farm for the beautiful photos)

Step 9: Enter the appropriate dimensions. Make sure the keep proportions box is checked. Click apply. Then click replace original.
Picture
Step 10: Copy the Direct link to use this image in your Farmigo dashboard. Simply click on the direct link and it will be copied.
Picture
Step 11: Go to the item/producer in your Farmigo dashboard. On a mac, hit Command + V to paste. On a PC, hit Ctrl + V to paste. Click Save Changes.
